If you would be able to look into your mind and see the lies that cover it from: I’m not good enough, I’m afraid to fail, I’m not strong enough to handle the days demands…they grow into our life and repeat until we take the time and notice our thoughts that are defeating, negative and destructive. By the time these thoughts exist, our minds are covered in lies.
My thoughts always would bring me to a place of being available when ask to do a project but never would volunteer myself to take a role on to lead a group or lead in organizing a project. I did not have the confidence in myself to move in that direction. If someone ask me, I was more confident because they believed in me to handle the opportunity. I believed in the lie that I’m not good enough. I wouldn’t investigate it any further than that. I stopped looking for resources to be confident in moving out of this lie. When I started to see the resources I could tap into for information and guidelines I was able to be vulnerable to ask more questions to get the right answers to move forward out of that mind-set of insecurity.
Why do we believe these lies? Without a doubt, insecurity plays a major role in the lies we tell ourselves. What is important to remember is to learn to live by knowing what is right in your heart and apply it to your mind.
You may not always respond correctly in those insecure times, but when you do, you train your mind to gain more advantage of those negative thoughts that hold you back from being secure in who you are and what you can accomplish.
Yes, lies that continue to sneak in throughout the day, you will need to be on guard with what you think and train your thoughts of what is right and good and helpful.
With You I can attack a barrier, and with my God I can leap over a wall. Psalm 18:29
